Coaching - a key skill for everyone, not just managers

Prof. John Whitmore (author of "Coaching for Performance") described coaching as "... unlocking a person’s potential to maximise their own performance. It is helping them to learn rather than teaching them"

With that in mind, it is critical that every employee works with each other to ensure they all maximise their own, and each others' potential. The coach is not the expert, rather they help an individual to see possibilities and help formulate ideas on how progress & improvements can be made.

In the book, Coaching for Performance, a very simple model is introduced which uses the acronym GROW (Goals, Reality, Options & Will) to help structure coaching conversations.
